SFOX publishes to Bitcoin SV resources for its traders

The San Francisco Open Exchange, perhaps better known as SFOX, is an exchange that really does focus on providing value to its traders. Not only do they offer some of the best trading prices, account security and transparency, but they also work to inform their traders. They showed that most recently by publishing a very informative article about Bitcoin SV (BSV).

SFOX published “The Bitcoin SV People, Wallets, Miners, and Other Resources You Need to Know” to medium, a round-up of some of the most crucial information about the BSV ecosystem. In the article, the title pretty much speak for itself, as it covers all of the top minds, resources, and community information you would want to know.

For example, the article provides succinct biographies and social media information for Dr. Craig Wright, the creator of Bitcoin, as well as CoinGeek Founder Calvin Ayre, Bitcoin Association Founding President Jimmy Nguyen, and Bitcoin SV Node leaders like Daniel Connoly and Steve Shadders.

Miners can quickly find out more about SVPool, Mempool, CoinGeek and other mining groups. Users can learn about all the wallets that support BSV, like HandCash, Money Button, Centbee, and of course, SFOX. Developers can gain access to resources like BSV/DEVS and the recently updates bitcoinsvdevelopers.com. And those looking to meet more members of the BSV community can find the Bitcoin Association, the Bitcoin Meetup Network and the Bitcoin SV Telegram.

For SFOX traders that may want to know more about BSV before investing in the true Bitcoin, this is a tremendous resource. Many of the best examples of the BSV world have been gathered all in one place, with the most pertinent details highlighted and links provided so they can find out more.

To be clear though, SFOX is an exchange that, while friendly to the BSV world, is very much neutral, and just trying to provide the most information for their own users. However, they are clearly doing it in the most fair and open manner by redirecting users to BSV’s sources of content, and letting them decide for themselves.

Certainly though, SFOX traders who access this information will quickly learn that BSV is the only Bitcoin to follow the original vision of Satoshi Nakamoto and pursue massive blockchain scaling. By doing so, it’s ensuring that Bitcoin will not only be the digital currency of the future, but also the world’s data ledger through the Metanet, allowing enterprises to build their future applications on the blockchain.

How blockchain is transforming business models

Click here to read in Korean.

Businesses are always in the search for the best business models in the market. Having an efficient business model that maximizes on profits and minimizes on cost can be the difference between market dominance and total annihilation for a business. Since its advent a decade ago, blockchain technology has continued to revolutionize business models globally. Blockchain-based software products, tokenization and peer-to-peer blockchain business platforms are just some of the ways in which blockchain is transforming business models.

Tokenization is one example of how blockchain is transforming business models. Tokenization is the creation of units of value, known as tokens, that enable a self-governing business model and allows users to interact with a company’s products. Tokens also facilitate the distribution of rewards and benefits to stakeholders.

Blockchain technology has enabled businesses to easily generate tokens. There are two types of tokens: utility tokens and security tokens. While utility tokens are coins that are backed up by a project, security tokens represent shares in a company. The tokens enable the business owner to generate capital from investors and also incentivize his clients to interact with his products and services.

Blockchain-based software products are yet another lucrative business model that has demonstrated how blockchain is transforming business models. Despite most businesses realizing the benefits of the technology, not all of them can afford to build blockchain applications. This has given rise to a high number of businesses that offer blockchain products and services.

Blockchain-as-a-Service has also emerged as a rapidly-expanding business model. As with any other technology, there are plenty of businesses which prefer to use it only for specific tasks. For these companies, it doesn’t make sense financially to incur all the setup expenses. They thus rely on companies that can provide blockchain platforms for a fee. IBM, Microsoft and Amazon have been some of the companies that have invested in this field.

While Bitcoin SV has established itself as the best enterprise blockchain, there are other development platforms that have sprung up. Other companies have also striven to provide businesses with development platforms which they can use to create their own customized decentralized applications.

Blockchain technology has also enabled scalable peer-to-peer business models. Businesses can develop blockchain applications that offer such services as file storage and music distribution while enjoying all the other benefits of blockchain technology such as tokenization. This increases efficiency, speed and security, all while keeping the costs low.

On October 1, global businesses will be in South Korea for the CoinGeek Seoul conference. Attendees will get to learn how they can maximize on the superior Bitcoin SV blockchain to build new business models and advance the ones in place. They’ll also get to interact with some of the brightest minds in the blockchain industry including the man who started it all, Dr. Craig S. Wright, better known as Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitstagram review: A unique method for storing, sharing photos on blockchain

Imagine being able to store hundreds of thousands of pictures on a medium that is permanent, uneditable and which will be around until the end of time. Saving pictures to a cloud storage hub isn’t a bad option, but plenty of these have already gone under without warning, leaving their users unable to retrieve their memories. This type of permanent storage is going to become the norm, and Bitstagram is getting the ball rolling. It’s only possible because of the powerful capabilities of the Bitcoin SV (BSV) blockchain.

Bitstagram was first introduced by the highly prolific developer known only as “unwriter.” He set the stage for picture storage in February when he announced the “world’s first Bitcoin Native photo app that lets you take a photo on your mobile phone and upload to the blockchain.” Not only is it possible to upload pictures to the BSV blockchain, but they can also be manipulated, thanks to sepia, pixel and blur filters.

Now, users can take a picture from the smartphone or tablet (even a desktop computer) and upload it directly to BSV. You need to have a MoneyButton account, but saving the pictures doesn’t cost anything. The tie-in provides verification data so that your picture will always be identified as yours, even if someone were to try lift it and claim ownership.

There’s even an option to include comments on photos that have been uploaded. Eventually, all of the facets of Bitstagram provide the ability to monetize different components of the upload, if desired, and the platform is a great example of how much can be done with the BSV blockchain.

It’s only the BSV blockchain that can accomplish this, too. While all blockchains have limitations on their block sizes that are capped extremely low, BSV is the only blockchain that has, thanks to Quasar, pushed the block size cap to 2 gigabytes (GB). In next February’s network upgrade, the cap will be removed, allowing blocks of virtually any size. Despite opponents’ assertions that large blocks were not possible and would break the blockchain, BSV has proven them all wrong, restoring the original Bitcoin design.

Bitstagram is a perfect example of the amount of real-world development that is occurring on the BSV blockchain. It shows how flexible and useful the network is and joins the ranks of other professional developments that are being constantly added to the blockchain. Given how much has already been accomplished in such a short time, it’s fascinating to think about what will be possible in just a few years.

Cityonchain: Build your city, build with BSV

This is a guest contribution by Lise Li. If you would like to submit a contribution please contact Bill Beatty for submission details. Thank you.

Recently, a global commercial application with the name of Cityonchain (CoC for short) emerged in the BSV blockchain network and quickly won a large number of users. Their on-chain transactions have been extremely active.

cityonchain-build-your-city-build-with-bsv1

The CoC development team is based in Hangzhou in China. At an offline BSV event in the Chinese city of Shenzhen on August 4, CoC project manager Asine introduced this interesting project to the public for the first time. He believes that most domestic and international DAPPs are bookmakers, and that there is a gap for a user-friendly and interactive commercial application that benefits the sustainable and healthy development of the public chain, and that CoC could fill this gap.

“A city is a widespread geographical and cultural concept that is accepted by virtually everyone. CoC could extend this to the magnificent world of BSV blockchain. Here, you could find your hometown, a city that means something special to you or a place where you have always dreamt of going,” Asine said at the event.

With this aspiration and inspiration in mind, Asine and his team of seven embarked on a journey to create Cityonchain – an on-chain world based on BSV – in June. All team members have extensive experience in application development and a profound understanding of blockchain technology. It only took them slightly over a month before CoC was officially launched online on July 11.

At present, CoC has included more than 9,000 cities worldwide. You can find your favourite city and become its proud “owner”, or you can choose to participate in its construction and become a “city visitor”. Here, all players are referred to as Chaintizens, people who can engage in city transactions as well as own and construct cities in the long-term.

Moreover, an advertising space and a chat room has been established for each city, where players can exchange local information, make friends and upload beautiful pictures. Some cities have even developed their own unique “personalities”: for instance, a city in Western China once suffered a major geological disaster and the city owner encourages everyone to leave messages in the city and build it into a place where they share their memories and express hope. Meanwhile, another city shares the same name as that of a renowned singer, so its owner has built it into an “on-chain home” for devoted fans. Another city is particularly poor, so the owner has started a charitable cause to raise funds to help liberate people from poverty and improve their quality of life through BSV. It is believed that more scenarios will be developed with CoC, where players could build their own cities with their imagination and creativity, helping to make this platform increasingly diverse.

Since July 11, CoC has gained widespread attention and popularity. The CoC team attribute their success to the following factors:

First, the application captures what it means to be a “city” – a geographical and cultural concept that triggers people’s sense of recognition and belonging – and extends it into the on-chain world of BSV.

Second, it creates an experience that is similar to the game ‘Monopoly’. The development team encourage people to “use and earn BSV” on the CoC platform, which creates a fun incentive mechanism. For example, every comment made in the chat room contributes $0.01 to the city owner and every like rewards the commentator $0.07 and the city owner $0.02.

Third, it has the potential to produce quality content. The local nature of cities has made CoC an ideal environment to post regional information and activities. Encouraged by the incentive mechanism, high-quality content tends to reap generous rewards, which in turn generates more quality content. Through this, CoC has the opportunity to become the most valuable hub for local information and the best access to local online traffic.

Asine says that the future CoC will be based on city scenarios and will strive to promote local communities, information services and BSV. It aims to provide more than six major products, including urban communities, city events, an information service, business platforms, OTA and applications. The team are committed to inspiring more general users to “reside” in CoC and become Chaintizens by providing better services. CoC is therefore determined to contribute to a healthier and more active BSV ecology.

Meet the participants of the CambrianSV Bootcamp in Bali

Having established itself as the only blockchain network that supports massive on-chain scaling, low transaction fees and real-time transactions, Bitcoin SV (BSV) has become a godsend for developers. These developers have continued to build on the only Bitcoin project that follows Satoshi’s vision, churning out groundbreaking applications targeting social media, network monitoring, advertising and more.

Come August 30, developers from across the world will congregate in the island of Bali, Indonesia, for the first of its kind Proof of Work BSV Developers Bootcamp. The seven-day bootcamp, organized by the Bitcoin Association and RelayX will bring together BSV developers to work together, learn from each other and interact with some of the leading minds in the industry.

RelayX’s Ella Qiang explained just what the bootcamp is and how it will benefit the attendants.

CambrianSV focuses on the application layer of the Bitcoin SV stack, as we believe real growth comes from people building better products using Bitcoin SV as the backend. The program is set up to accelerate the product building process from proof of concept to product release. It is a seven-day boot camp solely focusing on building the next generation products for the real-time economy powered by Bitcoin SV.

The attendants will get to collaborate with some of the brightest minds on the BSV ecosystem to create the best applications. “All participating teams should leave with a finished product that is generating on-chain transactions,” Qiang tells CoinGeek.

The latest team to confirm its attendance is the R&D team from McDonalds China. This team will join dozens of other developers whose applications span plenty of industries.

They include the teams from UptimeSV, the crowdsourced uptime monitoring and network intelligence for enterprise systems; Legally Chained, an onchain identity platform that allows users to sign documents and verify their identity; Run on Bitcoin, a token creation platform on Bitcoin; and Agora, a homepage for the Metanet.

Other teams that will attend include Twetch, the BSV-powered social media app; Streamanity, a video streaming platform; BitMesh, an emailing platform; BitPocket, a platform that incentivizes its users to perform tasks on the BSV platform; RateSV, the platform that allows the flow of data between the blockchain and the real world; and TonicPow, a P2P advertising platform powered by BSV.

The organizers of the bootcamp hope that in the seven days, the developers will get to learn from each other and build applications that can make the BSV ecosystem better. Qiang explained, “We as the organizers are aiming at creating an open environment where various projects will share their experiences, goals, and challenges of developing Bitcoin enabled products and services. We are looking to encourage collaboration among projects so that each one will compete better onchain.”

The bootcamp will be graced by some leading minds including mentors from the Bitcoin Association, HandCash, RelayX and nChain. Brendan Lee from the Bitcoin Association, Jack Liu from RelayX and Alex Agut from HandCash are among those that have confirmed attendance. Bitcoin’s creators Dr. Craig S. Wright will join via video chat, as will nChain CTO Steve Shadders.

The attendants will also get to participate as speakers, Qiang revealed adding, “We believe their direct implementation experience is valuable to share with the group. For example, Yao Yu from RateSV will talk about developing Metanet enabled applications, Zheming from Mempool will talk about payment channels in mining.”

Businesses should attend CoinGeek Seoul conference — here’s why

Click here to read in Korean.

Throughout history, new technology has infiltrated business operations and transformed how even the simplest of tasks are performed. Businesses that have been quick to adapt to these changes have flourished. Those that haven’t have run out of business. With it superior features, Bitcoin SV has evolved to become the best global enterprise blockchain platform. And come October 1, all businesses should attend the CoinGeek Seoul conference and learn how Bitcoin SV (BSV) can transform their operations.

With any business, one of the most crucial factors is the cost of doing business. Businesses that thrive are those that maximize output while minimizing the overheads. Bitcoin SV enables business owners to lower the cost of doing business by offering them a seamless, cheap and efficient platform to move money as well as conduct operations—yet another reason why businesses should attend the upcoming CoinGeek Seoul conference on October 1-2. Transactions on the BSV blockchain charge less than one cent, much lower than any other competing project, blockchain and beyond.

Automation has also become a big differentiator between businesses that are able to scale and those that aren’t. Bitcoin SV enables the creation of smart contracts which trigger specific events after predetermined conditions are met. From making payments to suppliers to paying insurance claims, the Bitcoin SV blockchain powers them all.

Bitcoin SV has also set itself apart by being the most scalable blockchain in the industry. While some competing Bitcoin projects are stuck on 1MB block size hard cap which makes them extremely slow, Bitcoin SV recently underwent the Quasar protocol upgrade which increased the block size hard cap to 2GB. This enables it to offer its users unprecedented scalability, with over 1,000 transactions per second.

To learn about how businesses can harness the transformational power of Bitcoin SV, all businesses should attend CoinGeek Seoul. The event will bring together some of the most brilliant minds of our time, from Bitcoin creator Dr. Craig S. Wright to Bitcoin Association Founding President Jimmy Nguyen. Business owners will get to learn how Bitcoin SV’s scalability can give them an edge over their competition.

To learn more how the exciting developments for Bitcoin SV, as well as the benefits of massive on-chain scaling for miners, developers, and especially businesses, attend the CoinGeek Seoul conference.

2nd Bitcoin SV hackathon draws global developers to build projects for actual use of Bitcoin

On August 17-19, the Bitcoin Association conducted its second Bitcoin SV [BSV] hackathon attracting developer teams from across the globe who worked on creating projects that enable people to actually use Bitcoin. The contest is run by blockchain advisory and development group nChain and is sponsored by CoinGeek. The virtual competition leads up to the next CoinGeek conference in Seoul, South Korea on October 1-2. Preliminary judging will select 3 top finalists, who will each send a representative to CoinGeek Seoul to present their project on October 1 for final judging by a panel of industry leaders and audience voting. They compete for a total prize pool of USD $35,000, paid in BSV.

Demonstrating the rapid global expansion of BSV development, this 2nd BSV Hackathon attracted teams from over 35 countries: Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Macedonia, Malaysia, Namibia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Rwanda, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunis, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America.

The competition’s theme is USE of Bitcoin. Contestants were asked to create an application on BSV that charges a very small amount for an action that has value to the user. The challenge is to find meaningful ways that ordinary people can use small amounts of Bitcoin to get users further engaged; this means micropayments of a few cents or even fractions of a cent.

Bitcoin Association chose this theme as part of its efforts to shift the cryptocurrency paradigm away from today’s model where people “buy and hold” coins. Instead, BSV’s roadmap for a massively scaled blockchain and micropayments capability will ignite a new self-empowering world where people “earn and use” Bitcoin in daily life as part of a recursive digital economy.

nChain’s Chief Technology Officer Steve Shadders commented: “Earlier this year, our 1st BSV Hackathon asked developers to solve the onboarding problem – to build projects that make it easier to onboard new users, as well as developers, to Bitcoin SV. We saw many entries address the issue by creating new and interesting ways for new BSV users to earn small amounts of Bitcoin. This approach can onboard new users to Bitcoin without the tedious process of purchasing coins through an exchange. We believe the future of Bitcoin is a never-ending cycle where people can ‘earn and use’ Bitcoin. So we are excited to see how developers in our 2nd hackathon address the ‘use’ part of the Bitcoin user experience.”

Bitcoin Association’s 1st BSV Hackathon concluded at the CoinGeek Toronto conference in May. There, UptimeSV won the top prize of 250 BSV; its project uses BSV to provide distributed performance and uptime monitoring for dedicated denial of service (DDoS) enterprise systems to thwart attacks. Second place went to TonicPow, which allows users to monetize their websites, and earn BSV, using the platform’s peer-to-peer advertising solution. The third finalist was Polyglot, a system designed to be an intuitive method for different Metanet protocols to interact via Python.

Bitcoin Association Founding President Jimmy Nguyen remarks: “After the success of our 1st competition, I’m thrilled to see the global growth of our 2nd BSV Hackathon, with so many diverse countries represented. Every day, more developers across the world realize that BSV is the best blockchain for building their new technology visions. We want Bitcoin to be used for more than just trading. That’s why the BSV ecosystem is building applications that allow enterprises and people to actually use Bitcoin in daily life. I’m excited to see what the hackathon entrants create, and to meet the finalists at CoinGeek Seoul.”

Philippines central bank approves two crypto exchanges

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the central bank of the Philippines, announced that it had approved two more cryptocurrency exchanges. This brings the total number of approved firms in the country to 13.

Melchor Plabasan, officer-in-charge of the Technology Risk and Innovation Supervision Department at the BSP, gave the report. He stated that BSP approved two companies, Atomtrans Tech Corp. and Tokyo-based Telcoin Corp. to operate as virtual exchanges in the region.

Atomtrans Tech Corp. International is a financial service with its headquarters at Manila. The company was founded in 2017 and has branches in other countries, including Hong Kong, Japan, and Argentina. Since its launch, the company has launched various products including ATC Remittance, ATC Digital Currency Exchange, and ATC Payment.

The company has achieved a lot in the last couple of year. Atomtrans has a strategic cooperation agreement with China UnionPay Electronic Payment Co., Ltd. and UnionBank of the Philippines. Currently, it is also exclusively representing Philippine-China remittance products.

Other approved VC exchanges include Bexpress, Coinville Phils., A BloomSolutions, Virtual Currency Philippines, ETranss Remittance International, BA Global Phils., Betur (Coins.ph), Rebittance, Fyntegrate, ZyBi Tech, and Bitan MoneyTech Co. Ltd. Inc.

Authorities in the countries have exercised great caution when it comes to crypto businesses. The law in the Philippines provides that all virtual exchanges should register with the BSP. They should also register with the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) and submit regular reports regarding their overall finances and transactions.

Earlier in June, the central bank expresses its concerns on cryptocurrencies by stating that it is still “lukewarm” on the industry. This might explain its reluctance in approving more firms on the space. A senior official at BSP stated:

“We have to be open to innovation except that we also have a responsibility to consumers. Let’s give it another three to five years.”

In addition, last month, the central bank issued a memo warning banks to be more vigilant when handling crypto businesses. In the memo, the deputy governor of the BSP, Chuchi Fonacier reminded banks to only transact with registered exchanges. The memo read:

“As a safeguard against unregistered virtual currency exchanges, BSP-supervised financial institutions, upon onboarding and during transaction monitoring, should exercise extra caution and vigilance as well as perform enhanced due diligence, as necessary, in accordance with their Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention Program as prescribed under existing regulation.”
